At the end of the record-breaking Chipman & Taylor Classic Car Show, Tina Taylor-Amend shared these beautiful words about her father, Tom Taylor.
“Those who don’t know me my name is Tina Amend I am Tom’s youngest daughter. I would like to thank you all for being here. What a great day it has been.
I also want to thank you all for helping make this car show something so special. Today isn’t just about chrome, horsepower, or beautiful machines — it’s about honoring a man whose passion brought so many people together: my dad.
My dad didn’t just love cars — he lived them. To him, cars were never just metal and engines. They were art, history, craftsmanship, and sometimes even therapy. He could look under a hood and see possibilities. He could hear an engine and tell you its story. And if you knew him, you know he could talk cars for hours with anyone willing to listen.
But more than the cars themselves, he loved what came with them — the friendships, the memories, the long drives, the late nights in the garage, and the community. Events like this meant so much to him because they brought people together who shared the same passion.
Some of my best memories with my dad are tied to cars — whether it was riding with him, helping him work on a project, watching him admire a classic, or simply seeing the joy on his face at a show like this, and most importantly, spending countless hours with him in Spokane watching him drag race when I was younger. Those moments taught me more than mechanics. They taught me patience, pride, hard work, and how much love can be built through shared passions.
My dad left behind more than a collection of memories — he left a legacy. A legacy of passion, kindness, and the reminder to enjoy the ride while we can.
I know he would be honored to see all of you here today, celebrating not just cars, but the spirit and passion he cared so much about.
Dad, this show is for you. Your love for cars still rolls on in every engine rev, every polished fender, and every story shared here today. You may not be standing with us, but your presence is felt in every corner of this event.
Thank you for everything you taught me. Thank you for the memories. And thank you for showing us that sometimes the best journeys aren’t about the destination — they’re about who you share the road with.
Thank you for sharing this day with me in honor of my dad.
